Hand Appliqued Album Quilt
60" x 71"
This is a rescued quilt. Two blocks were completed and found during an estate sale. I matched
fabric colors and textures as best as I could to complete this quilt.
Flowers and vines are hand appliqued to white/cream background blocks. Each block measures 17 inches and
are set with horizontal sashings of hand stitched vines and rose buds. A vine of varying green toned leaves
and rose buds form the outer border. ( note: all freezer paper that was used to applique has been removed)
The muslin used for this hand stitched quilt top is lightweight and soft. I continued using a soft muslin for the other background blocks. The original two blocks of muslin seem to be of a
slightly different texture and tone. I was unable to match the muslin exactly. I don't believe it diminishes the beauty of this quilt top and I find itenhances the 'vintage' look of the top, but thought I should point this out.
Also the original vining was not done on the bias, so it is puckered. If you would like any more close ups
of any portion of this quilt....please let me know.
This quilt is machine quilted with a simple echoing stitch and 100% cotton batting was used.
A two tone white/cream muslin was used for the backing.
