Its springtime, and you can't help but smile when you look at this quilt.
The lattice is pieced and the flowers entwined in the lattice are done in a
'broderie perse' style of applique. (a cut-out motif applied to the background fabric
of a project with stitches matching as close to the same color as possible)
The birds are appliqued to the quilt top using a blanket stitch in coordinating
thread color. The silhouette kittens are appliqued with a blanket stitch also.
As you can see, one curious kitten is attempting to make his way up the lattice
to get a closer look at his feathered friends. This quilt is freehand machine quilted.
